information SERVICE DETAILS

In addition to developing our ABC group sessions to be delivered remotely, we have also moved our weekly “ABC: Wee Song & Sign Circle” sessions online too!

These sessions are for ages 0-3 however, they can be enjoyed and accessed by anyone and are particularly aimed at those at an early stage of communication. Sing and Sign groups are fun, interactive, inclusive communication sessions for the whole family, siblings are encouraged to join in, and grandparents are welcome to zoom into the signing tutorials too.

Our Wee Song & Sign Circle sessions help babies, toddlers and young children to focus on the sounds of language and provide opportunities to interact one-to-one or with the group. Weekly sessions involve a mixture of nursery rhymes and action songs; as well as signed songs and stories using props to support communication and understanding. The repetitive nature of songs and rhymes means that children learn to predict what’s coming next and when they are ready, join in.

Sessions last half an hour although we do encourage you to feel free to leave at any time you feel you need to, or if your child gets fed up.

You can see what a Wee Song & Sign Circle session looks like in the video at https://bit.ly/3cdgIIC.Please Note: this video was filmed before social distancing guidelines were in place.

We currently run weekly Wee Song & Sign Circle sessions on Mondays & Wednesdays from 10:00am - 10:30am, on Fridays from 11:00am - 11:30am and on Tuesdays from 12:30pm - 1:00pm.

If you would like more information about joining our Early Years ABC Programme and attend one of our Wee Song and Sign sessions, please contact ABC@dsscotland.org.uk.

All of our online sessions comply with our Online Safeguarding policy, this can be accessed here, please take the time to read this policy prior to your session if you have any questions we are more than happy to answer them.
