We are here to help teachers and educational support staff in supporting and positively including children and young people with Down’s syndrome in their nursery or school.
We offer bespoke training and support on specific issues to suit you as well as dedicated consultation sessions and a series of four online interactive training modules with one of our Support Team.
Our Training modules cover:
- Including and Supporting a Child with Down’s Syndrome in your school
- Teaching Reading Using the Whole Word Approach
- Teaching Numbers and Everyday Maths Skills
- Understanding and Supporting Behaviour that Communicates.
We offer discounts for booking multiple courses if this is something you would be interested in please get in touch with familysupportservice@dsscotland.org.uk.
Payment is required prior to the training event taking place, booking online requires you to pay via Paypal, if you require an invoice instead please contact familysupportservice@dsscotland.org.uk.
We also offer consultation sessions which can provide practical, individual suggestions and effective strategies tailored to your area of support and the individual. These online sessions are 45 minutes with up to four key staff. Makaton Training and Support
School of Rock 21...
Support your pupils’ communication in school or via remote learning with a fun session incorporating Makaton sign, songs and stories. Our Makaton Tutor Katy Lironi will lead you through a half-hour session of exercises, voice and body warmups and a selection of topic-based songs, stories and rhymes. These sessions can be tailored for nursery, primary and secondary school-aged children and enjoyed by pupils of any age.
