For anyone affected by terminal illness, including family and friends

Call our Support Line to speak to one of our multi-disciplinary team of professionals – nurses, bereavement specialists, as well as one of our trained officers and volunteers who can support with practical matters and emotional support.

We’re here for you with the support you need, when you need it

Call the Marie Curie Support Line for practical or clinical information and emotional support if you're living with or caring for someone who has a terminal illness, whatever your situation.

You don't need to have used Marie Curie services or be directly involved in a loved-one's care to call the support line. We're here to help family and friends, and you can find support on a wide range of issues.

How can the Support Line help me?

The Support Line provides balanced and up-to-date practical and clinical information and emotional support to anyone affected by or concerned about death and dying. The service does not give personal or medical opinions or advice.

The following type of Support Line workers are available to help you.

Information and Support Officers

Our Support Line Officers can help you with practical information on all aspects of living with or caring for someone who is dying. Whether you have practical, emotional or financial questions or concerns or just want someone to talk to.

Information and Support Nurses

Support Line Nurses offer telephone service users:

- Unbiased/impartial and evidence-based information on terminal illness
- The opportunity to speak to experienced health professionals about your concerns or feelings

Support Line Nurses do not offer telephone service users:

- Advice about medication
- Recommendations on individual specialists or treatment centres
- An out of hours, emergency or rapid response service

No one is turned away, so please do not hesitate calling if you need any kind of support.

The Marie Curie Support Line team is a multi-disciplinary team of trained information and support officers, registered nurses, bereavement support specialists and trained volunteers.

The lines are open daily, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am to 5:00pm.

The Support Line number is 0800 0902309. Calls are free from mobile and landlines and may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

Any calls taken out of hours or at the weekends will be picked up again by a trained member of the team or a nurse on the next working day. During the opening hours, most calls will be returned within the day.
