The EVOC Red Book

The online directory to find third sector Organisations, and their services across Edinburgh

Directory of local groups/projects who are offering specific support during the current COVID-19 pandemic »

In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available or to find out about alternative groups or services in your area.

24-hour Nursing Care / Specialist Care

One of our smaller care homes, Marian House is located in the peaceful Grange area, easily accessible from the centre of Edinburgh.

With 35 beautifully furnished ensuite rooms over two levels, Marian House is delightful and well maintained. Decorated in neutral and calming colours throughout, it encompasses restful communal spaces full of appeal.

The attractive walled garden, directly accessed from the main lounge via French doors, has a covered walkway and is one of the home’s favourite spots. With grassed areas, trees and a sensory area, it is a great place to walk or sit for a while.

Marian House is an inviting, friendly home with a flexible programme of activities for all to enjoy. Whether tending to the vegetable patch, a morning in the Craft Café, or out and about in one of our regular bus trips, the choice is yours. Our Activities Coordinator is on hand to help design a plan that is right for you.

Restful and intimate, Marian House offers first class nursing care in a beautiful setting.

Nursing and Dementia Care
We are passionate about helping you maintain a good quality of life. Run by a superb nursing team, Marian House offers excellent support and care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your comfort and wellbeing are at the heart of all we do and we will ensure you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Our dedicated care team will get to know you and learn your life story, physical needs, likes and dislikes to help us create a care plan tailored to your needs. Your personal wishes and preferences guide our work and we will be on hand to deliver assistance and support at any time of day or night.

Resident and family/friends meetings are held to give you an opportunity to let us know how we are doing and to raise any concerns. Your contributions and suggestions are always welcome.

We always encourage visits from family and friends. Visitors are welcome at any time during the day or evening, subject to the care and rest needs of individual residents.

The Craft Café
In 2012 we were proud to set up Edinburgh’s first Craft Café in an unused Chapel which is attached to Marian House. Now lovingly restored to its former glory, it has become a fantastic place for those wishing to express their creativity. Run in partnership with Impact Arts, the Café is open 3 days a week and welcomes all residents, offering a fun, social and artistic environment where they can thrive. The Café has been a finalist in the Scottish Dementia Awards and Care Accolades.
