information SERVICE DETAILS

Our club for 18-25 year olds runs at The Yard Edinburgh on Saturdays from 5:45pm to 8:15pm.

Our Saturday evening club is for young people experiencing the transition to adulthood. It provides a safe, relaxing environment where young people can be themselves and develop independence, with the support of trained and empathic staff.

The Yard becomes a focal point for friendships that grow bigger than the confines of our playground. Young people, parents and carers all tell us about increased confidence and interests that grow out of attending this club.

This group are becoming more independent; there are some trips out, which vary from dinner out, to nights at the bingo and shows at the Fringe. At The Yard, this club enjoys activities such as boccia, movie nights and pottery making.

This club is for The Yard members aged 18-25, who are able to self-travel or be dropped off, and attend independently. Once a young person has successfully transitioned into this club, they can no longer attend our family sessions.

All of our youth clubs are currently full and we have a long waiting list. A reduction in local services for disabled young people has contributed to a great increase in demand for places in our clubs. In order to avoid disappointment, we have taken the decision to close our club waiting list. Based on the predicted number of transitions through our clubs, our waiting list will remain closed for the foreseeable future, until such time as it becomes manageable. We will continue to review this decision quarterly and keep our members and families who have expressed interest updated with any changes.

These are interim measures pending the outcome of our wider membership review later in 2018. Families who are affected and have questions or concerns about these changes are encouraged to contact our Edinburgh Service Manager Aneta and we will work with you to ensure we address your individual concerns. We offer support on a case-by-case by basis to ensure we assist families as best we can with transitions and sources of support.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
