information SERVICE DETAILS

Our club for 14-18 year old girls runs at The Yard Edinburgh on Tuesdays from 5:45pm to 8:15pm.

Our teen clubs build on the adventure play origins of our playground, offering risk and challenge alongside fun, friendship, new experiences, and opportunities to develop independence and social skills.

Arts and crafts, cooking, baking and movie nights happen at The Yard, while trips out vary from trips to the panto to ceramic painting workshops. This club is particularly geared towards girls, in order to support their blossoming independence.

For young people dealing not only with adolescence but also their disability, our youth clubs offer a valued route away from the risks of social exclusion, and over-reliance on support from parents and carers, for whom these clubs are also a welcome source of respite.

This club is for girls aged 14-18 who are The Yard members, and able to self-travel or be dropped off and attend independently.

All of our youth clubs are currently full and we have a long waiting list. A reduction in local services for disabled young people has contributed to a great increase in demand for places in our clubs. In order to avoid disappointment, we have taken the decision to close our club waiting list. Based on the predicted number of transitions through our clubs, our waiting list will remain closed for the foreseeable future, until such time as it becomes manageable. We will continue to review this decision quarterly and keep our members and families who have expressed interest updated with any changes.

These are interim measures pending the outcome of our wider membership review later in 2018. Families who are affected and have questions or concerns about these changes are encouraged to contact our Edinburgh Service Manager Aneta and we will work with you to ensure we address your individual concerns. We offer support on a case-by-case by basis to ensure we assist families as best we can with transitions and sources of support.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime, all our members 0-18 are of course still welcome to attend our family sessions in Edinburgh, Dundee and Fife every weekend. Just because there is not a place at club, does not mean there is not still a place for everyone.
