Covid-19 UPDATE...

We are currently delivering Time for Mum by video call.

Are you a Mum who would like to do something you enjoy but need a bit of help getting started? Would you like to learn something new or renew an old interest or reconnect with who you were before you became a mum? “

Time for Mum” might be for you.

A “Time for Mum” buddy will support you to set and reach a personal goal over 12 weeks.

It could be help to access a course or participate in an activity by meeting up for a couple of hours each week and catch up for a chat too. It is a chance to do something you enjoy and get into a routine of making “me time” a priority. The activities can include arts and crafts, exercise, cooking.

If interested please contact jan.holden@firsthand.

Focus on mums that struggle to access group activities or start something new. Mums are matched with a Volunteer befriender who will explore and attend activities or groups of interest e.g arts & craft, cooking, exercise and support parents to develop networks of their own within the community. Video delivery on portals/zoom allows mums with anxiety/depression to access social interaction and activities without leaving the house.

Support improves self- confidence, resilience, and reduces isolation.

Service details...

Encourages women to recognise they are a whole lot more than "only a mum” - and helps them to reconnect with themselves, to recognise their strengths and skills and take time out to do something for themselves on a regular basis.

This service is for Mums living in Edinburgh, who are isolated and already have child care in place. They will be supported and encouraged to explore opportunities and activities, initially with the worker, and as Mum feels confident and able to attend on her own the worker will withdraw. Each Mum will be allocated up to 3 hours per week for a maximum of 12 weeks.

Mums are encouraged to use their "me" time constructively - to help boost their mental or/and physical health i.e. join social or community groups, cooking groups, parenting groups; take up physical activity e.g. dance, yoga; attend classes where they will meet new people; go to counselling; take up a course of study, visit art galleries - do things and go places that recharge and reconnect them with who they were before becoming "mum"

Third sector referrals and self referrals accepted.
