At the heart of Balerno since 1826 Balerno Parish Church continues to serve Jesus and the community of Balerno.
Together we listen to Jesus and aim, through his grace, to live as his disciples in the world today. We want to provide a place where people can believe, belong, grow, and serve others.
The church is at the heart of community life as well as being at the centre of Balerno geographically. This opportunity to serve and help the community can help some people to take that important first step into our church family. Since 2012, our Mill Café has run as a community café in our St Joseph’s Centre and is a popular venue for people of all ages to meet. The church is a driving force in many community ventures including Balerno Village Screen, the Balerno Music Festival, the Bridge Club and the Christmas Tree Festival. As a result, the church campus is well-known and well-frequented by all in Balerno. It is our mission to use this opportunity wisely to help our parish encounter God.
Many people in our congregation help to ensure that we are engaged in the concerns of the wider world. We are an Eco-Congregation and a Fairtrade organisation. We share in a well-organised system of fundraising for Christian Aid.
We hope you might come along and join us some time. There’s a place waiting for you at Balerno whether you’re visiting, moving into the area or simply wanting to find out more about what followers of Jesus believe – you’re welcome here!
