WELCOME TO MIND'S WELL RECOVERY COLLEGE & PEER SERVICES
WHAT IS A RECOVERY COLLEGE?
There are a number of recovery colleges across the UK. They work towards the national drive to enable people experiencing mental health concerns to access life opportunities such as education. In this context students are encouraged to take an active role in ther care and well-being. Psychoeducation is provided in order to enable people experiencing mental ill-health and their families to learn how to manage their conditions, develop strategies and acquire tools to live a fulfilling life.
MIND'S WELL RECOVERY COLLEGE
People with first-hand experience of mental health concerns have developed all our workshops, courses and resources.
Mind's Well Recovery College is a Social Enterprise that provides a range of peer-led services which include mentoring, support, counselling, co-education and therapeutic interventions.
Our staff are trained to the highest standards and receive regular supervision, training and development.
Our services are based upon the principles of mutuality, trauma-informed practice, empathy, recovery, empowerment and strengths-based approaches. Our approach is consistent with that set out by the Scottish Government, NICE Guidelines, Peer Support Code of Ethics and COSCA guidelines. It is based on self-management, compassion and respect for the individual.
Mind's Well Recovery College is the only one with expertise on self-harming behaviours and suicide. Our aim is to reduce the need for people to resort to self-harming behaviours (self-injury, drugs and alcohol, eating problems, self-medication etc) in order to deal with psychological distress.
Mind's Well believes that people from all walks of life should have access to quality learning opportunities in order to improve their mental health and well-being and that of those around them.
Mind's Well is a not-for-profit organisation that generates income from our self-harm training, workshops, consultancy and support in order to reach those who are most vulnerable. All profits are reinvested in our projects, and we pay a living wage.
If you would like support or attend one of our workshops please get in touch.
