Bump Start is a support service for pregnant women and their partners living in the North East and North West of Edinburgh. Bump Start’s main focus is to prepare women for pregnancy and parenthood and feel confident to make positive choices for themselves and their families.
The Bump Start team has two components: Parenting coordinators and Pregnancy Café.
The parenting coordinators primarily work with women one to one. Every woman is different therefore the parenting coordinator and pregnant woman will agree on what support needs the pregnant woman has and how we can help the woman achieve them.
Pregnancy cafes are weekly, informal sessions which women can attend by dropping in or being referred. Sessions include a warm welcome and food, as well as an educational input to support pregnancy and parenting. The pregnancy cafe’s are delivered in conjunction with Edinburgh City Council’s Lifelong learning department.
