The Canny Budgeting project will tackle poverty by supporting low-income households living in North Edinburgh to build the skills and confidence to better manage their household budgets and to make the most of their energy and food.
The project is delivered through a partnership between the Changeworks Energy and Affordable Warmth team and a CAE Money Advice Worker based in Port of Leith Housing Association.
What can the service offer me?
The project is for tenants of the Port of Leith Housing Association and provides a holistic package of measures dedicated to address the three root causes of fuel poverty:
- High fuel costs
- Poor levels of energy efficiency in the home
- Low household income.
The advice and support offered by our CAE Adviser and the Changeworks Team can enable you to better manage your energy use, fuel costs and finances to avoid fuel debt and a cold, damp home. Ultimately, we aim to give you the information, advice and support to provide long-term relief from fuel poverty.
Our CAE Adviser offers tenants:
- Advice relating to income maximisation
- Benefit entitlement checks
- Budgeting support
