FOODBANK...

LOVE Gorgie Farm operates a foodbank to help those in our community who are in the most vulnerable positions. We give out hundreds of parcels to vulnerable people and families in Edinburgh, East Lothian and West Lothian every month.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak struck, we have also been linking up with other organisations in Edinburgh who are doing similar work so we can maximise the support going out to people without them having to claim from multiple places.

WHO CAN RECEIVE PARCELS?

We have no criteria and require no proof of income; all you need to do is ask and you can claim as many times as they like. We want this service to be as open for people as possible!

So far, many friends, neighbours, family members of support workers have been claiming them on behalf of people they know or work with, showing the value of community coming together.

DO WE DELIVER THEM?

Our foodbank is now being run as a Community Store! Anyone can come along, no questions asked and shop for things they might need.

Some items may have a limit on how many you can take and our stock varies due to being donation based.

WHERE DO WE GET OUR STOCK FROM?

The majority of our stock has come from donations:

- From Fair Share agreements with the likes of ASDA and Tesco, and direct agreements with Morrisons and B&M.
- From local Edinburgh cafes and restaurants, such as Bakery Andante and Hula Juice bar.
- Donations from the public and local members of the community.
- Cash donations that go towards the foodbank and the running of the farm.
