We provide snacks to the patients and parents in Ward 2 at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. We have nuts, fruit, smoothies, ice-cream, cheese and biscuits: parents and patients need their energy at this hard time.
Our snack team visit daily Monday to Friday at 3pm and are a much welcome sight!
What we stock:
- Oatcakes and cheeses
- Nutella portions
- Childrens yogurts (like thomas the tank engine or similar)
- Fresh fruit variety
- Chocolate biscuits
- Pancakes and little cakes
- Ice cream sundaes
and much more
At Christmas we provide food so that the families in hospital can have as nice a day as is possible and do the same on Boxing Day.
We provide parent packs for parents staying in hospital with their child. We’ve come a long way since our beginning in 2010. Parents loved them – mums got them first but then we were asked to do some for dads. And then teenagers too! And later we added in overnight packs for the unexpected stay.
Our latest packs are in clear practical wash bags and come with feedback forms so we find out what works and what doesn’t.
What we stock:
- Mum’s overnight pack
- Dad’s overnight pack
- Mum’s full pack
- Dad’s full pack
- Teenage pack
Practical support is important to us and so we also provide families with up to four ironing vouchers - choosing an ironing company near to where they live to give them real practical help. We do this in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
