The Senior Youth Theatre targets at young people with an interest in performance. The class provides additional opportunities for all participants to get involved in different aspects of production including costume and set design, administration, props, lighting and sound.

Participants work towards presenting one production a year.

This youth theatre is for all those who love to perform. Each year we work towards a full scale production in March. We tend to perform plays rather than musicals, and all productions are chosen to showcase the whole cast.

The 25 strong Senior Youth Theatre Company presents an annual production in March at North Edinburgh Arts Centre. The group assists in the selection of the piece and also takes responsibility for the technical aspects of production including costume, props, scenery, administration, publicity, lighting and sound. Past productions have included “The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby”, “Agamemnon”, “The Crucible”, “Tall Tales” and “Then to Awake”, a modern take on William Golding’s Lord of the Flies which was devised and written by the company.

Productions for the following year are selected during the summer Youth Theatre term, providing participants with the opportunity to explore ideas from the chosen play which are presented at the Youth Theatre end of year show in June.

Places in these groups are limited and weekly attendance is essential.

Suitable for ages 12 - 18.
