In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available or to find out about alternative groups or services in your area.

Vine Trust

The opportunity of a lifetime

Vine Trust’s education expeditions offer unique learning opportunities where students can engage in meaningful and relevant global citizenship outreach, being challenged about the way they see the world.

Through practical hands on work, school groups help our partners in Tanzania to build and maintain orphanages and smaller houses providing some of the most vulnerable children with a home, education and the opportunity ultimately of a vocation and a future. Peru offers a diverse geographical classroom with a rich cultural experience. Participants will enjoy Machu Picchu as well as helping children, families and communities in areas of poverty across the country.

The Vine Trust has led school excursions to Peru since 2007. During the summer of 2013, 5 schools visited Peru and helped with the ongoing maintenance and building work at a number of our children's centres across the country including those at Kimo, Kusi and Puerto Alegria.

We offer an unparalleled experience for school groups to visit Peru and live, work and play alongside “rescued” street children. A typical excursion includes a day in Lima (capital city), time in the Amazon jungle and the Peruvian Andes visiting two to three of our street children’s homes. The final days are spent in tourist mode in the city of Cusco & visiting Machu Picchu.

Pupils and staff have the opportunity to make a difference as they take part in a building or maintenance project in one of our children’s homes. As the group travel throughout Peru they will witness the stark contrast between the wealthiest and majority poor within the country: This experience teaches both pupils and staff just what being a global citizen means for the majority in the developing world and inevitably pupils make comparison with their own lives and come to a fresh understanding.
