The Welcoming Association delivers an all-year round Edinburgh city-wide adult education, social integration programme of free English language classes, cultural activities & social events.

Scotland for Newcomers

Is a weekly conversation class taking place every Wednesday afternoon at the Hall at St John’s Church.

There is a different topic and / or activity every week, offering you a chance to get together, improve your English conversational skills and learn about Scotland – its people, culture, music, geography and much much more.

Here are some examples of what we get up to each week:

- Scots language workshop
- Screening of film Sunshine On Leith
- Card-making Workshop
- Police Information Workshop
- Central Library Tour
- ‘Here & There’ with the Scottish Book Trust
- Intro to Scotland for Newcomers & Information Session on Learning & Living in Scotland
