The EVOC Red Book

The online directory to find third sector Organisations, and their services across Edinburgh

IMPORTANT

Directory of local groups/projects who are offering specific support during the current COVID-19 pandemic »

In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available or to find out about alternative groups or services in your area.

We have won a bid from the Big Lottery Fund Support and Connect to hire 4 staff members to assist tenants with their increasing energy problems.

The Energy Advice Service will focus on the following services:

Advice

- Ways to reduce energy bills
- How to manage heating systems for greater efficiency
- Planning home repairs or insulation required to improve energy efficiency in the home

Assistance

- Accessing support services
- Obtaining starter packs from local charities
- Switching energy suppliers to cheaper social tariffs

Fuel poverty affected 26%-34% of our tenants this winter, and over 70% of tenants are on low income and suffer continued risk of fuel poverty. The challenges to those on low incomes continue to increase with rising cost of living, welfare reform changes, and rising energy costs. We have always made it a priority to offer support and advice to address these challenges with tenants and the new Energy Advice program will complement the current services.
