The ending Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) programme aims to increase awareness and understanding of issues and relevant services surrounding domestic abuse and honour-based violence to Muslim and Minority Ethnic women in Scotland with the hope of making them feel less isolated and more confident in raising VAWG issues in their communities.
VAWG programme is Scotland wide and includes the following:
Intergenerational Trauma workshop...
We deliver workshops exploring the burdens women carry on their shoulders discussing with participants the burdens their grandmothers carried and encouraging them to consider the burdens that their daughters/future generations may carry on their shoulders. We focus on some of the common traumas that may have been experienced and passed across all generations.
Workshops include activities such as a ‘values walk’ challenging the participants to question the gender roles they were brought up with and if they have made any changes within their own household.
Upward: Young Women on the Rise
An exciting opportunity for young women aged 16-22 years old providing an insight into the ending violence against women sector.
The participants are taken on a journey (quite literally!) through the sector, with site visits to the Scottish Parliament, Rape Crisis Scotland, Women’s Aid, Ubuntu and others. The participants not only gain an understanding of how the various agencies support women in crisis, whether that’s related to sexual violence or domestic abuse, but they also gain an in-depth knowledge of the various forms of violence against women.
The next programme will run in 2023; watch this space for all the information and details on the application process.

Previous beneficiaries include Scottish Women’s Aid, Zero Tolerance, Police Scotland, Social Workers, Universities across Scotland.
We deliver workshops to Muslim and BME women community groups on healthy relationships providing interactive activities on how to identify the various forms of domestic abuse. We provide an insight into legislation and the services available for women seeking support.
