The EVOC Red Book

The online directory to find third sector Organisations, and their services across Edinburgh

Directory of local groups/projects who are offering specific support during the current COVID-19 pandemic »

In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available or to find out about alternative groups or services in your area.

Fresh Start

Think for a moment – you have no cooker and you cannot cook yourself or your family a hot meal. Without a cooker, the cost of living is higher and eating ‘fast food’ is unhealthy. Fresh Start can provide and fit a brand new cooker to our clients so they can cook a meal in their new home.

Each year Fresh Start appeals to its supporters via the 'Cookers for Christmas' appeal. Money raised in this appeal goes to buy new electric cookers and other white goods for new tenants who have been homeless.

These appliances, such as cookers, washing machines and fridge freezers, are passed onto new tenants free of charge, giving them the means to cook themselves hot meals, wash their clothes, and store their food safely.

Please note that in order to qualify clients must meet Fresh Starts criteria. This furthers our aims of seeking to ensure that the cookers are then allocated to those most in need.

If you or your client require help with white goods, please contact us using the details below.
