Directory of local groups/projects who are offering specific support during the current COVID-19 pandemic »

In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available or to find out about alternative groups or services in your area.

Description

Fresh Start is an Edinburgh based charity helping people make a home for themselves. Our project delivers a range of services offering both practical and social support to help people build confidence, skills and feel more settled within their communities.

Our starter packs and hit squads help people who have been homeless establish themselves in their new home.

Our cooking and gardening services help people gain skills and confidence in an informal and friendly social setting.

Our training initiative provides people with the opportunity to gain real work experience and an SQA accredited qualification.

Our cooker delivery service can ensure people who do not have the funds available for white goods can access these.

Our PAT testing service acts as a social enterprise feeding into the work of our charity and gives some of our clients the opportunity to gain new skills and work experience.

Referrals to our service can be made in the following ways:

- Referrals can be made by a support worker on behalf of an individual for all of our services.
- The Hit Squad service is by telephone referral only
- Starter pack referrals can be made via the Gateway project: 0131 561 8903
- Self-referrals can be made by an individual for our gardening, cooking and Jump Start services only.
