SERVICE DETAILS
Each Sunday we meet at 11:00am for worship.
A welcoming slideshow runs from 10:30am until 10:55am to introduce visitors to the many aspects of Polwarth Kirk on the Canal.
During the service volunteer members of the congregation participate by reading the Bible passages and also leading the prayers of concern.
The style of worship involves the whole congregation in saying responses and singing. Occasionally people are also invited to write short prayers of concern which then become part of the prayers that morning and sometimes there is an invitation to move to a station around our labyrinth or participate in a simple action like lighting a candle.
A carpeted area at the rear of our large sanctuary welcomes parents and infants with toys and books. We also have a Junior Church and the families who attend begin the service with us then leave for their own activities.
The Sacrament of Communion is celebrated on the last Sunday of the month.
We follow the weekly lectionary of reading as part of the one universal church. This allows us to follow the seasons of the Christian Year from Advent to Pentecost.
There are special services at Christmas, Easter and for Harvest and Remembrance Sunday as well as Fairtrade Fortnight and Christian Aid Week.
