COVID-19 UPDATE...
Classes will start in the Autumn as follows:
September 4th – Cramond Big Builders, Bricks Challenge and Galileo and taking notes of interest for Robotics
The Young Engineers programmes have been developed to provide an edutainment based approach to learning about maths, science and engineering. Children use LEGO or K’NEX based kits and tools to develop their own problem solving skills. They learn to apply critical thinking and question the learning topic therefore developing an in-depth understanding of each topic through the building of a model.
Big Builders...
Big Builders uses K’NEX to introduce simple science concepts to young children. Classes encourage development of fine motor skills, we practice talking and listening and simple counting.
Time: 10:00am - 10:45am
Age: 3 - 5
Cost: £8.50 pppw
Bricks Challenge...
Bricks Challenge is a LEGO program that introduces engineering to children. We build a range of real-world machines and explore the maths and engineering concepts that make them work, for example circular motion in fairground rides, forces in a washing machine and gear ratios in a lawnmower.
Time: 11:00am - 12:15am
Age: 6 - 9
Cost: £13 pppw
Galileo Technic Program...
Robotics mixes LEGO and Coding. This class is aimed at young people interested in learning to code, we start right at the beginning with very simple programs and progress up to using conditional statements and loops. At the end of 3 terms particpants take part in a design challenge similar to Dragons Den and present their results to their families.
Day: Saturday
Time: 12:30pm - 2:00pm
Age: 10 - 14 (late P5 - P7)
Cost: £14.50 pppw
Classes are held in the Committee Room. Enter through the glass doors, walk to the back of the building and turn left. The room is at the bottom of the corridor. There is a large car park all around the building.
Each child can attend a single taster class to see if they enjoy our programme.
