Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Services update...
The Help at Home service continues to provide essential shopping services with protective measures in place. As restrictions ease we are also extending the other support available.
**Unfortunately at this time, as our capacity is limited, new enquiries for household help will be waitlisted – those requiring help with shopping will continue to be prioritised.

Help at Home - Helping you to stay independent at home
Help at Home provides regular and reliable support with household tasks and shopping.
When things are getting more difficult to manage we are here to provide flexible and tailored support that can help you to stay independent and enjoying life in your own home.
Who is Help at Home for?
Help at Home is there for anyone over 50 years old who is living with dementia, is struggling with mobility or has poor health, as well as those who care for them, to give support around the home. If you need regular, ongoing support, or if you just need help while you get back on your feet after a stay in hospital, illness, or fall, Help at Home is here for you and can tailor our service to what your want and need.
What support is offered?
From full house cleaning to a hand with specific tasks.
Anything from picking up a few items to full weekly shopping. We can help with planning and list making as well as offer a safe and secure cashless service for those that need it.
Including ironing and changing bed linen.
As well as
Making sure plants are watered, checking the expiry date of items in the fridge and keeping it clean, taking out rubbish and recycling, posting letters and picking up prescriptions. Is there something else you need help with? Just ask!
Here when you need us...
We don’t ask clients to commit to getting the service for any length of time- we can help long term or just as long as you need us. We can provide support for as little as one hour a fortnight up to a few hours a couple of time a week, depending on what you need – and of course this can change over time as you need it to.
Our visits normally happen on weekdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm throughout the City of Edinburgh.
We charge an hourly rate. Payment can be made in a variety of ways. We invoice for the service at the end of each calendar month.
If you’re eligible for the Direct Payments scheme and/or Attendance Allowance, you can use these to pay towards Help at Home.
Getting To Know You...
We meet with all potential clients at their home before arranging the service. This is an opportunity for us to understand your requirements, go through the details of how the service can support you and for us to answer any questions you have. You’re welcome to invite a relative or friend along to this chat. There is no obligation and no charge for this visit.
