Classes & Activities
There are a variety of classes and groups who regular meet at The LifeCare Centre.

Hopscotch Swing Dance Classes...
Edinburgh Swing Dance Society (ESDS) is an informal society of dancers which exists to encourage and promote social swing dancing in Scotland, by organising classes, workshops and dance nights. We mainly offer classes in Lindy Hop, but also dance Charleston and Balboa, plus jazz routines and ‘strolls’ such as the Shim Sham and the Jitterbug Stroll.
The Society is run on a not for-profit basis with none of the local contributors taking fees for teaching, administering, or organising classes or events. We run weekly classes with any surplus income used to support weekend events featuring the highest quality teachers from around the world.
Classes
Our Thursday classes are progressive, with a new term suitable for absolute beginners starting every 7 or 8 weeks.
Beginners can start our Fundamentals class in any of the first 3 weeks of a term. If you miss the first 3 weeks, it’s best to wait until the next one starts.
No need to book in advance, just come along on the night!
When are classes?
7:15pm - 8:10pm: Technique and Core Moves
8:15pm - 9:10pm: Fundamentals
8:15pm - 9:10pm: Advanced Styling and Improvisation
9:15pm - 10:15pm: Social dancing
How much does a class cost?
£5.00 for members, students, and concessions.
£6.00 for non-members.
This price is for the whole evening – all classes and social dancing included!
We also offer a 10 Class Pass, which you can buy on the door.
What should I bring?
- Comfortable shoes: Keds, Converse, plimsoles.
- A water bottle (water and cups provided at the class).
- Comfortable clothes, spare top, mints, deodorant.
