WALKING FOOTBALL...

Tuesday...

Exactly as it sounds, football played at a gentler pace for those aged 50 and over - it's great social activity.

The session, supported by Saltire Roofing, runs at Tuesday lunchtimes from 1:00pm - 2:00pm and costs just £4.00 per session inclusive of a post-match hot drink, soup, and a roll.

As well as ‘a kick at the ball’ each week, every player is welcome to join us for a ‘cuppa’ after each session.

Heart of Midlothian Walking Football currently has a regular attendance of around 40 players.

This session takes place, between March and October, at their Community Pitch, which is located at the back of the Wheatfield Stand here at Tynecastle Park. During the winter months, between November and February, this session is held at World of Football, at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, 11a Newmarket Road. Edinburgh, EH14 1RJ.

Thursday...

This session, supported by Health All Round, runs on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:00pm and costs just £4.00 per session and takes place at the Hearts Football Club's Community Pitch, which is located at the back of the Wheatfield Stand at Tynecastle Park, EH11 2NL.

The sessions run from March to October.

This session is open to all wishing to get more active and meet like-minded people over a friendly game of football. This session is more relaxed with no age limits. Regular attendees include regular walking football players and those kicking the ball for the first time in years. There are also a number of female players who join us for a game at Thursday tea time.

Active Steps...

Active Steps is run in partnership with The Health Agency in Wester Hailes and aims to support people living in South West Edinburgh to become more physically active & maintain a healthy diet in the long term. We will help you to make small changes in your everyday routines that will set you on track for a healthier lifestyle.

Who can benefit?

Being more active and eating nutritious food is a positive step for everyone and we know that these are behaviours that also have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. However your GP is likely to refer you to our services if you require help with any of the following:

- Weight management

- One or more long term conditions: COPD; Hypertension (High Blood Pressure); Arthritis.

Our activities are suitable for all levels of fitness regardless of your health and wellbeing. The process starts with an initial one to one chat to explore your individual health needs.
