Volunteering with Health All Round

Why volunteer?

Health All Round relies on volunteers to help us provide the broad range of services available. We work with about 40 volunteers and we are truly grateful for their support, they are the lifeblood of the organisation. Volunteering has also been linked to health benefits for the volunteers themselves. So it’s genuinely a win win situation!

Volunteering and helping other people has been shown to reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. While it’s true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day. Giving in simple ways can help those in need and improve your health and happiness.

Benefits of Volunteering: 5 ways to feel healthier and happier

- Volunteering connects you to others
- Volunteering is good for your mind and body
- Volunteering can advance your career & help you into paid work
- Volunteering brings fun and fulfilment to your life
- Volunteering helps build stronger, healthier communities

Here at Health All Round we take on volunteers for all the following roles:

- Counsellors
- CBT therapists
- Reception / Office Volunteers
- Gardening
- Walking Group Leaders
- Befriending
- Group Work
- English Language Tutors
- Delivery and driving volunteers

We are always open to new suggestions, so if you have skills and knowledge that you think people in our community may benefit from, please do get in touch.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone can volunteer and Health All Round offices are fully accessible as are the majority of venues from which we run groups and activities. People who have difficulty leaving home due to illness, disability or caring responsibilities can volunteer for our on-line or telephone services. However all roles require at least two references and some roles will require PVG checks.

Volunteer counsellors and CBT therapists will be interviewed and accepted only if studying at degree / diploma level and when they have reached the ‘ready to practice’ stage in their course. Student counsellors/ therapists will be expected to have relevant previous experience.

What training will I get?

All volunteers will be asked to attend our Volunteer Induction Training which includes guidance on: Boundaries; Confidentiality; Working with Vulnerable Adults; Health & Safety. Any other training really depends on your volunteer role, your previous experience and your own learning & personal development needs. HAR strongly encourages the personal development of volunteers and we offer an ongoing range of free, optional trainings on topics including mental health, first aid and groupwork skills.

How do I get involved?

If you are interested in volunteering with us please ring Rose at Health All Round.
